In the next step to grow An-Nada School in Zaria we want to install a solar power system at the school.

AlhamduLillah An-Nadaa school has (as of Dec 2025) 31 classes, 775 students and 10 huffaz. We will be having another five huffaz in the next year in shaa Allah.

All this is possible only through the support and blessing of Allah Subhaana Wa Taala. We thank Allah and we also thank all of you for supporting this project making it a reality. May Allah accept it from you and grant you the rewards of every letter of Quran read by the students throughout their life and the benefits of their education that they give to the ummah.

We have finished the construction of a masjid and three blocks of classrooms. The next phase is to have a solar system installed on the buildings in the school.

Need for solar power system

The shortage of electricity in the national grid effects everyone including our school. Most of the day there is no electricity from the national grid. This shortage of electricity is a challenge for the management to schedule everyhting that needs electricity. This includes teaching facilites and water pumps. Usage of Projectors and computers lab need to be scheduled very carefully to align with periods when electricity is available. Unannounced interruption and faults in electricity grids need to be managed.

During periods of electricity outage light and fans stop working. Lights are manageable by using natural light from windows but absence of fans makes it uncomfortable especially in harsh weather.

Backup generators was one of the immediate options we considered. We did not go for this option due to the high cost of fuel and maintenance. The most suitable option and long term solution is to install a solar system.

It is a waqf project. What do we mean by that?

At its heart this project is a waqf project through which we have two purposes

1. Nurturing Children who are ready to take responsibilities of this world and hereafter by

• Making them memorizers of the Quran
• Mini Scholars
• Equipped to excel in any field whether it be dawah, research, mediciine, engineering, sciences, arts, humanities.

2. Generate funds to support AN-Nadaa operations and welfare projects

We have again mentioned waqf. The school generates revenue through school fees. This revenue is used to cover the operational expenses of the school. For now this money is being used to stabilize the school operationally and financially. Once the school is financially and operationally stable then all surplus revenue will be used for:

• An-Nadaa Operational Expenses
• Welfare Projects
• Dawah Projects

One of the benefits of the solar power system is the lowering of operation costs. Lower operational cost will mean more money available for the welfare, dawah and operational expenses of An-Nadaa. So this solar system will not only help the school it will also help to enable many sadaqah jariyah project in the future.

What the money will be used for?

The money will be used for supply and installation of a complete solar system for all the school buildings. This system will generate enough electricity for the school needs. Such a system will have a lot of benefits including:

• Independent of unreliable grid
• Lowering of electric bills
• Availability of electricity for school needs.
